Babul Akhter arrested over Mitu murder case

The Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has arrested former Superintendent of Police Babul Akter, in connection with the sensational murder case of his wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu in Chittagong. 

He was arrested Tuesday evening.

Earlier in the day, he was interrogated at the Mansurabad PBI Chittagong Metropolitan Office in Chittagong. 

He was questioned by senior PBI officials, including Inspector Santosh Kumar Chakma, who is investigating the case. However, the PBI is keeping strict secrecy in this regard.

On June 5, 2016, Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was brutally killed on OR Nizam Road near GEC junction in Chittagong city while going to pick up her son in a school bus. She was stabbed to death. In this incident, Babul Akhter filed a case against three unidentified persons.
