1.50cr doses of COVID-19 vaccines to be procured from China

The government will procure some 1.50 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines from China to immunize the countrymen.

The 19th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) held virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair took the decision on Thursday.

After the meeting, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Dr Sahida Akhter briefed reporters virtually that these 1.50 crore doses of vaccines would be procured from Sinopharm of China. 

The vaccine will arrive in the country in June, July and August, she said, adding that Sinopharm would provide 5 million doses of vaccine per month.

Each dose of the vaccine will cost at $10 and the government will need a total of 127 crore 50 lakh. The vaccine is being bought under the government to government system.
