Govt mulls resuming public transport before Eid: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the government was considering resuming public transport ahead of upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

In a regular briefing at his official residence on Saturday morning, the AL leader also called on the transport owners and workers to be patient instead of protesting in this regard.

The minister said the government has already relaxed the lockdown considering Eid and Ramadan and those working in shops and shopping malls.

Regarding May Day, Quader said, May Day is the day of victory achieved through struggle, solidarity, determination and blood of the workers.

In this context, he mentioned that Bangladesh became a member of the International Labour Organization on June 22 in 1972 on the initiative of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On the same day, Bangladesh ratified 29 conventions of the ILO, which was a rare event.

Obaidul Quader requested the concerned persons to pay the salaries and allowances of the workers working in the factory before Eid.

He said that recently some 201 fake IDs have been opened in his name through various social media platforms and a vested quarter is intentionally uploading various statements and pictures from them, which is not legal.

He said the ID he actually uses is a verified Facebook ID.
