Sinopharm-Pfizer vaccine to be given from June 19

Health Minister Zahid Malik on Monday said that vaccination of Chinese Sinopharm and Pfizer made in Belgium will start from June 19 in the country.

The minister said this while talking to reporters in a prayer meeting in Mohakhali on the death of his mother. 

China has gifted a total of 11 lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccines to Bangladesh. Of this, China has taken 30,000 doses for its own workers in the country and the remaining 10 lakh 70 thousand doses of vaccine can be given to 5 lakh 35 thousand people of the country.

In addition, Pfizer's one hundred and eight thousand doses of vaccine came through the global vaccine distribution company Covax. 

Covax will give a total of one crore doses of vaccine to Bangladesh. The Oxford-AstraZeneca 10 lakh 800 doses of vaccine will arrive in the country soon.

Meanwhile, the agreement of the Bangladesh government with China on the purchase of one crore doses of vaccine with Sinopharm is in the final stage.
