Murder of mother-father-sister: Case filed against Mehzabin and her husband

A case has been filed against Mehzabin Islam Moon and her husband Shafiqul Islam, who were arrested in connection with the murder of their mother, father and sister in the capital's Kadamtali.

Shakhawat Hossain, elder brother of slain Masud Rana, 50, filed the case on Saturday night, Kadamtali Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jamaluddin Mir confirmed to media on Sunday.

The OC further said that Mehzabin, daughter of slain Masud Rana, has already been arrested in the case on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Police are questioning her.

Mehzabin's husband Shafiqul, another accused in the case, could not be questioned as he was ill.

The bodies of Masud Rana, 50, his wife Mausumi Islam, 40, and daughter Jannatul, 20, were recovered from the second floor of a building in Muradpur, Jurain on Saturday morning. 

The girl's son-in-law Shafiqul Islam and granddaughter Tripti were rescued unconscious and sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

According to the police, Mehzabin, 24, suffocated them to death by taking sleeping pills out of anger towards her family.
