Bus, launch on Barisal-Dhaka route stopped

No bus or launch left Barisal for the capital on Tuesday, creating untold sufferings to the passengers.

Barisal BIWTA's Joint Director (Ports and Transport) Md Mostafizur Rahman said the movement of passenger boats from the capital to Barisal will remain closed in the public interest until further orders. However, inland water routes are normal, he added.

Imam Hossain, counter in-charge of Saudia Paribahan at the Barisal Central Bus Terminal, said the Dhaka-bound passenger bus service from Barisal has been suspended since Tuesday morning. However, some buses left in the morning but the administration returned them to Barisal at Bhurghata in Madaripur.
