Court asks to freeze Sayeed Khokon's bank accounts

The court has ordered to freeze eight bank accounts of former Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sayeed Khokon and three members of his family.

Of those, three accounts of Sayeed Khokon's businesses, one of his mother Fatema Hanif, two of his sister Shahana Hanif and two of his wife Farhana Alam.

On Sunday, the court of Metropolitan Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayesh passed the order following an application by the ACC.

ACC court inspector Aminul Islam confirmed the matter to media on Monday.

According to the petition, the bank accounts need to be blocked urgently as unusually large sums of money have been transacted using those bank accounts.

On Sunday, ACC deputy director Jalal Uddin Ahmed requested the court to freeze the accounts for proper investigation.
