Age limit for vaccination registration likely to be lowered to 18 years

The government is considering lowing the minimum registration age for getting coronavirus vaccine to 18 years.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque made the disclosure while inaugurating the burnt Covid-19 ICU and OPD (Outpatient Department Procedure) sheds of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital on Thursday.

He said, “It was recommended to reduce the age limit for vaccination to 18 years. We're thinking of reducing it.”

The health minister said 2o lakh doses of vaccine had recently arrived from China. Out of this vaccine, another 1.5 crore vaccines will come from the China. In addition, AstraZeneca and Modern vaccines will come from Covax this month.

Zahid Maleque said the villagers could not register online for getting the vaccine. That's why we plan to vaccinate them with the help of national identity cards that will be launched later.

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Lokman Hossain Mia, DG of the Directorate General of Health Services Prof. Dr. Khurshid Alam and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
