10 lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccines reach Dhaka

A total of 10 lakh doses of Covid-19 Sinopharm vaccine purchased by the government arrived in Bangladesh last night (July 29).   

"Ten lakh shots of COVID-19 Sinopharm vaccine reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10.15pm last night (July 29)," Dr Md Shamsul Haque, Line Director of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health under  Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) told BSS.   

As many as 20 lakh more Sinopharm jabs are scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh in two shipments tonight, he said adding 10 lakh are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka 1.15 am while another 10 lakh Sinopharm jabs will arrive in 4.15am.         

"Bangladesh has so far received 61 lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccine till last night.... meaning total doses of Sinopham jabs stands at 81 lakh," Shamsul added.
