Junaid Babunagari dies

Central Amir of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Junaid Babunagari has died (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilahi Raziun). He was 73.

Humayun Ayub, an official of Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh confirmed the news of his death to The Daily Samakal. 

Mir Idris, central organizing secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, told Samakal that Junaid Babunagari fell unconscious due to high blood pressure at 10:30 am and was admitted to hospital.

He was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) from general ward as his condition was deteriorating. He died there at around 1.45 pm.

He said Junaid Babunagari had been suffering from old age weakness as well as kidney complications, diabetes and high blood pressure for a long time.

Junaid Babunagari is survived by his wife, five daughters and a son.

In 2020, Junaid Babunagari became the Amir of Hifazat. Earlier, he was the secretary general of the organization.

Besides, he was the education director of Moinul Islam Hathazari Madrasa in Chittagong.
