Captain Nawshad, who suffered heart attack mid-air, dies

Biman Bangladesh Airlines pilot Captain Nawshad Ataul Quaiyum, who suffered a heart attack mid-air, has passed away at a hospital in India. He was 44.

Bangladesh Airlines Pilot Association President Captain Mahbubur Rahman confirmed this to The Daily Samakal.

A Dhaka-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight with 124 passengers on board from Muscat made an emergency landing at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in India's Nagpur on Friday morning as pilot Captain Nawshad suffered cardiac arrest mid-air.

Later, captain Nawshad was on life support at the Kingsway Hospital in India's Nagpur.

Captain Nawshad is survived by his wife, two daughters, a son and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
