4, including Iqbal, remanded in Comilla incident

The court has granted seven-day remand to four people, including Iqbal, the main accused in the case of keeping the Holy Qur'an in a temporary puja mandap on the banks of Nanuar Dighi in Comilla. 

Police produced him in the court of Comilla Senior Judicial Magistrate Mithila Jahan on Saturday afternoon and the court granted him a seven-day remand.

The court also granted 7-day remand to Ikram, Faisal and Humayun who called to 999.

Comilla Additional Superintendent of Police M Tanvir Ahmed told reporters that Iqbal had confessed to keeping the Qur'an in the mandap during police interrogation. 

Earlier, he was brought to Comilla from Cox's Bazar at 12:10 pm on Friday.

Earlier, Iqbal was arrested from Cox's Bazar beach on Thursday night. 

Iqbal Hossain collected the Holy Qur'an from a mosque near the city of Comilla and placed it in the puja mandap on the banks of Nanuar Dighi. 

Police and intelligence agencies confirmed the matter after watching CCTV footage.
