Derogatory remarks on PM: HC asks to remove video of Alal's speech

The High Court has directed the BTRC to remove the video of BNP joint secretary general Moazzem Hossain Alal's harsh remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from social media.

The High Court bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday. 

The court asked BTRC chairman to implement the directive.

Earlier, Barrister Syed Saidul Haque Sumon brought the matter to the notice of the court.

Earlier, the complaint was lodged on Tuesday by Nuruddin Ahmed, a student of the Department of Population Science at DU's Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall and Fuad Hossain Shahadat of Bijoy 71 Hall.

According to the complaint, Moazzem Hossain Alal made derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina which they saw in a video released through social media. 

They appealed for legal action in this regard as the matter is degrading and defamatory for the government and the people of the country.
