World Human Rights Day observed in Bangladesh

Various NGOs in Bangladesh observed World Human Rights Day on Friday protesting the violations of rights of the minorities in Pakistan, Afghanistan and China.

Bangladesh Social Activists Forum organised a unique horse carts rally to protest against the human rights violations throughout the world including Uyghurs in China and Balochistan in Pakistan, said a press release.

The Horse cart rally paraded different city streets to spread awareness and highlight the significance of the day and to caution Bangladesh in this regard. 

The carts started from National Press Club and moved to Dhaka University, Shahbagh, Karwan Bazar, Banglamator, Magbazar, Kakrail, Vijaynagar and Paltan in front of DMP Commissioner's Office, and distributed pamphlets to raise awareness.

BBSS Welfare Association organised a cycle rally to mark the occasion where media workers, leaders of various organizations, student from schools, colleges and universities were present. 

They strongly condemned and protested against the extreme human rights abuses that are taking place in China's Uyghur province and in Pakistan's Balochistan. 

Speakers impressed upon the plight of Uyghur Muslims living in China who are not able to practice their religion independently and are constantly being tortured. 

The world media is not able to publish that news due to strict media control by China.  BBSS demanded protection of the rights of the Balochi and Sindhi population requesting intervention through the United Nations.

Confidence Poverty Alleviation Welfare Organization (CPAWO) led by its Khulna Chairman Md. Jahangir Alam also organised a colorful rally in front of Hadith Park in Khulna demanding implementation of global human rights. 

They highlighted the recent killing of a Sri Lankan national who was lynched and then set on fire in Sialkot alleging blasphemy.

Jongibad Pratiroadh Andolan Bangladesh organised rally in front of the Chittagong Press Club to protest against the brutality of Pak army in Balochistan, crime against minorities and killing of Uyghur Muslims in China. 

Starting from in front of The Press Club the rally ended at Jamal Khan Road passing through Momin Road.

The chief guest Mohsin Kazi, Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists and Executive Editor of Daily Satyabani addressed the rally in addition to local and central leaders of the organization.

Human Rights Day is celebrated on December 10 every year in all countries of the world under the supervision of the United Nations.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was declared by the General Assembly of the United Nations.
