IMF projects 6.6 percent GDP growth

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected that Bangladesh’s GDP growth in the current fiscal year of 2021-22 will be higher than previously predicted.

The information was given at a press conference of the visiting IMF team in Dhaka on Sunday morning.

Rahul Anand, leader of the IMF team, said, "We expect growth to increase further as Bangladesh's export growth and economic activities have increased."

He said Bangladesh's GDP could be 6.6 percent in the current financial year which was projected 6.5 percent in last October.

However, he said that there are some challenges in achieving this growth due to the new variant of Corona Omicron.
