No lockdown plan right now: Cabinet Secretary

Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said the government was not thinking of a lockdown at the moment.

He said this when he came to a vaccination centre in the capital on Wednesday to take a booster dose.

The new type of coronavirus, Omicron, is highly contagious and is spreading rapidly in many countries. In the meantime, seven people have been infected in Bangladesh.

The booster dosing activities have already started in Bangladesh as well as other countries of the world to prevent corona omicron type.

Regarding the booster dose, the cabinet secretary said the situation in the country is good. There are currently no plans to go into lockdown.

He said the country has adequate stocks of corona vaccine. More than 2.5 million Pfizer vaccines are coming from the United States soon. 

However, the epidemic cannot be prevented by that alone. In addition to vaccination, hygiene rules must be followed.
