14-day quarantine from seven countries: CAAB

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has issued a directive that those coming to Bangladesh from seven countries, including South Africa, will have to stay a 14-day formal quarantine in the event of a new type of coronavirus, Omicron.

The travel notice was issued on Thursday night.

The statement said that if anyone from Botswana, Eswatini, Ghana, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Lesotho returns to Bangladesh, he would have to stay in a formal quarantine at a hotel designated by the Bangladesh government at his own expense.

Before boarding the plane, he has to select the hotel designated by the government to stay in quarantine.

During the stay in Bangladesh, the passenger will be tested for corona once in seven days and for the second time after 14 days. Passengers will have to bear the cost of these two corona tests.

CAAB says that if anyone wants to come to Bangladesh from any country, the person has to have a negative certificate by checking the corona in RT-PCR system within 48 hours of the journey. Earlier, the deadline was 72 hours. However, corona testing is not mandatory for children under 12 years of age.
