Tight security in Cox's Bazar over Sinha murder verdict

A heavy tight security has been taken across the Cox's Bazar district centring Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder case verdict. 

A Cox's Bazar court is set to deliver the verdict  on Sunday morning.

Several checkposts have been set up in the beach town to stop any untoward incidents.

A tight security is also taken in the court building area.

Additional police forces have been deployed at the court building premises, said police.

Maj (retd) Sinha was shot dead on July 31 in 2020 in police firing at a check-post in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf upazila.

Later, Sinha's elder sister filed a murder case on August 5 of the same year.

Former officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das, sub-inspector Nandadul and seven others were made accused in the case.

Meanwhile, in front of the Cox's Bazar court building, around 60-70 people were seen forming a human chain, demanding the capital punishment for Pradeep Kumar and all other accused.
