Over 2.5kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

Dhaka Custom House (Preventive Team) has seized 22 gold bars weighing 2.552 Kilograms (Kg) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here.

Dhaka Custom House (Preventive Team) Assistant Revenue Officer Sajjadul Islam confirmed BSS on Sunday.

The abandoned gold consignment was seized from the area of the luggage belt at the airport around 10.30 pm on Saturday, he said.

A packet of juice was found in an abandoned condition under luggage belts Number 2 and 3 at the airport, he said, adding that, customs detectives later scanned the juice packet and identified gold inside.

The current market value of the seized gold is around Taka 1.54 crore.

No one has yet been arrested in this connection.

The seized gold bars have been kept in the custody of the customs.

Legal action has been taken in this regard.
