Information Commission asks police to provide info within 20 days

The Information Commission has ordered the Bangladesh Police to provide the requested information within the next 20 days.

The Information Commission issued the order on Tuesday under the Rights to Information Act.

Earlier, human rights activist Saad Hammadi had lodged a complaint against the Bangladesh Police for seeking statistics on cases under the Digital Security Act.

However, the police did not provide information on the number of cases, how many accused and how many people have been arrested under the Digital Security Act in the country.

Then petitioner Saad Hammadi lodged a complaint with the Information Commission in this regard.
