Secondary schools to start in-person classes on all subjects from Mar 15: Dipu Moni

Dipu Moni, the Minister of Education, said that all secondary and higher secondary schools will resume in-person classes in all subjects from March 15.

The minister made the remarks while addressing at a ceremony to open Sher-e-Bangla Girls' College's 'Lila Nag Bhaban' in Tikatuli.

According to Moni, the number of examinations would be reduced as a result of the new curriculum, and pupils' fear of examinations will dissipate.

"We'll be able to get out of the test-based assessments with the support of the new curriculum. Every day, there will be a daily evaluation of the instruction, and there will be restricted examinations at the end of the year, but final assessments will be determined by changing the evaluation during the year," Dipu Moni explained.

Due of the Covid-19 outbreak in Bangladesh in March 2020, all educational institutions were closed for roughly two years.

In-person classroom teaching in educational institutions began on September 12, 2021, on a limited scale while adhering to hygiene rules. 

However, when the incidence of Covid-19 infections and deaths escalated rapidly, the teaching of classes in educational institutions was halted in two phases till February 21.

As the situation improved at the start of the year classroom teaching at the secondary and higher secondary levels began on February 22 in a restricted capacity.

On a limited basis, classroom education at the primary level began on March 2.
