Committee fails in naming Amir Hamza for Independence Award

Minister for Liberation War Affairs AQM Mozammel Haque said there is a failure of the committee to fulfill the responsibility in selecting Amir Hamza for Independence Award in the field of literature.

He was speaking at a press conference on the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence held at the Ministry of Liberation War on Wednesday.

The Liberation War Minister said, "Those who gave wrong information are also involved in it. They have confused us. Those who misguided us will be punished. Since there is a committee, the committee will meet and decide on the matter.”

The name of late Md. Amir Hamza was announced for Independence Award in Literature. But Amir Hamza of Magura, who is completely unknown in the literary world and accused in the murder case, was criticized in various quarters, including social media. 

Later on last Friday, the Cabinet Division released the revised list of the Independence Award by omitting the name of Amir Hamza.
