DU student reportedly picked up by DB

Ashikur Rahman, a fourth-year student of the International Relations Department of Dhaka University, has been reportedly picked up from his home in Azimpur around 11:30 last Saturday night under the guise of Detective Branch (DB) of police.

Sources of Ashik's department and his friends have confirmed the matter to The Daily Samakal.

Muhsin, a student of 2019-20 session of accounting department, lived in the same house with Ashikur Rahman.

Muhsin said, “Some DB policemen came to our house around 11:30 pm on Saturday.  Soon after entering the house, they told us, give them the electric devices. After giving, they handcuffed us. After checking Ashik Bhai's phone for a long time, they said, there is trouble in the house next to us.  However, they did not say what the problem was. They then told the brother [Ashik] that he had to go to the DB office on Mintu Road. He will be interrogated and if there is no problem, he will be released. The DB men were also accompanied by police and Ansar members.”

Till filing of this report at 4pm, Ashik is traceless as he was not found at DB office or any police stations, said DU Proctor Professor Dr AKM Golam Rabbani.
