CNG filling stations to remain closed 5-11pm during Ramadan

During the month of Ramadan, CNG filling stations around the country will be closed from 5 pm to 11 pm, instead of 6 pm to 11:00 pm.

According to a press release from Petrobangla, the present gas crisis has compelled the authorities to close filling stations for six hours starting on the first day of Ramadan.

The distribution businesses will form monitoring teams to monitor whether the instruction is obeyed, according to the press statement.

On September 16 last year, the government ordered CNG filling station owners to close their pumps for four hours every day, from 6 pm. to 10 pm, until further orders were issued, citing the country's ongoing gas shortage.

From March 1, the government instructed CNG (compressed natural gas) filling stations to extend their non-operational time by one hour.

Due to a large disparity between demand and supply, the country has been importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) at high costs in recent months after failing to keep gas supplies in households and industry normal.
