Prof Nurul Alam made JU acting VC

Jahangirnagar University (JU) pro-vice chancellor Professor Nurul Alam has been made vice chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on a temporary period.

Nurul Alam was carrying out duty as pro-vice chancellor of the university.

A notification from the Education Ministry signed by Deputy Secretary Md Masum Ahmed was issued on Sunday in this regard.

According to Article 11 (2) of the Jahangirnagar University Act 1973, the Chancellor of the university, President Abdul Hamid, appointed Prof Nurul Alam as Vice Chancellor of the university on a temporary period, said the notification.

On March 2, 2014, Professor Farzana Islam was made the first female vice chancellor of the country, and later she was reappointed on the post 17 days prior to the expiry of her tenure on February 18, 2018.

Earlier on March 1, Professor Nurul Alam was made vice chancellor of the university on a provisional period.
