Five arrested for deceiving online customers

Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) detective Lalbagh division has arrested five people on charges of fraudulently sending low-quality products to customers with glamorous advertisements online.

DB Lalbagh's Organized Crime and Car Theft Prevention Team arrested them on Sunday in a special raid on a house in Shankar of West Dhanmondi in the city’s Hazaribagh.

The arrestees are - Md Bappi Hasan, Md Ariful alias Harisul, Md Sohag Hossain, Md Biplob Sheikh and Nur Mohammad.

During the arrest, a large quantity of unusable and very low quality old torn sari, lehenga, three-pieces and various other items were recovered from their possesses.

IPhones, laptops and 21 different online shopping pages used in the scam were also seized.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detective-Lalbagh) Rajib Al Masud came up with the disclosure at a press conference held at the DMP Media Centre on Monday morning.

Md Faruk Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of DMP (Media and Public Relations) was also present on the occasion.
