Dhaka College students asked to leave by 5pm

The authorities of Dhaka College have suspended its hostels until May 5 following a conflict between students and traders in Dhaka's New Market area.

According to an order signed by Acting Principal ATM Mainul Hossain, Dhaka College students must vacate their hostels by 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

At Dhaka College, there are eight hostels.

According to a post on the college's official Facebook page, Dhaka College administration had previously postponed all lectures and examinations for today (April 19, 2022).

“All sessions and examinations for Dhaka College's higher secondary and honours-masters programs scheduled for Tuesday, April 19, have been canceled due to unavoidable circumstances. By 10 a.m., all teachers should be at the college” the post stated.

A brawl broke out between students and traders in the New Market area, near to Dhaka College, at 11:30 p.m. last night.

The clashes resumed this morning, injuring over 100 individuals.
