Eden students take to streets in support of Dhaka College students

In the ongoing clash in the capital’ New Market, the students of Eden College have taken a stand at the Nilkhet intersection expressing solidarity with the students of Dhaka College.

After leaving Eden College on Tuesday afternoon, they turned around from gate number two of New Market and took position at Nilkhet corner.

According to the protesting Eden students, “The businessmen of New Market cannot attack the students in this way. They often treat students that way. They also harass Eden College students. The students also complained that offensive remarks were made about them at different times.”

Clashes between shop owners-orkers and students of Dhaka College are still going on in New Market area till filing of this report at 4:45pm

The clashes, which began at midnight on Monday, have so far left hundreds injured.

In this incident in New Market, the situation is tense from Dhanmondi-2 to Nilkhet. The shops are all closed and there is no traffic at all.

A large number of police personnel have been deployed at the spot. They are using tear gas and water cannons to stop the conflict.
