New Market shops reopen

Several shops in the New Market area have opened on Thursday following the clashes between traders and Dhaka College students.

The majority of the shops in New Market, Gausia, Chandrima, and Nurjahan Market opened about 11 a.m. 

Over 1,300 people were sued in three lawsuits filed after a series of clashes between shop employees and Dhaka College students in the New Market area.

Officer-in-charge of New Market Police Station M. Qayyum has confirmed the development.

The clashes left two people dead and over 50 injured.

Sayeed has filed a case alleging murder of his nephew deliveryman Nahid Mia in the clash. On the other hand, New Market police sub-inspector (SI) Mehedi Hasan and inspector (investigation) Yamin Kabir have filed two cases alleging arson and obstruction of police work.
