Tk 390cr corruption in three power plants: TIB

According to a report by Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), there was Tk 390 crore worth of corruption in the purchase, acquisition, and compensation of land in the construction of three power plants in Bangladesh.

The study report "Coal and LNG Power Projects in Bangladesh: Good Governance Challenges and Way Forward" was presented in a webinar on Wednesday.

According to the TIB report, local governmental authorities, property acquisition officials, NGO workers, and power plant officials have benefitted from the Tk 390 crore corruption.

The study looked at a 350 MW coal-fired power station in Barishal, a 1,320 MW power plant in Chattogram, and a 600 MW power plant in Cox's Bazar.
