Samrat surrenders to court with bail petition

Ismail Hossain Chowdhury, the expelled president of Dhaka Metropolitan South Jubo League, has surrendered before the court and applied for bail in a case of acquiring assets from unknown sources.

He surrendered before the Dhaka Special Judge's Court-6 on Tuesday afternoon and applied for bail. Samrat's lawyer Ehsanul Haque Samaji confirmed the matter to the media.

The Appellate Division Chamber Court on Monday upheld the High Court's order cancelling the Samrat's bail. A full bench of the Appellate Division has fixed May 30 for the hearing.

Samrat was granted bail by the Special Judge's Court No. 6 in Dhaka on May 11 in a case filed by the ACC. He was released on bail in all the cases.

The High Court cancelled the bail of Samrat on the basis of an application filed by the ACC seeking cancellation of the bail. At the same time, he was ordered to surrender to the court within seven days.
