Former MD of Sonali Bank among nine sentenced to 17 years in prison

A court has sentenced nine people, including former managing director (MD) of Sonali Bank, to 17 years in prison under two separate sections for embezzling Tk 27.5 lakh through loan fraud.

Dhaka 5 Special Sessions Judge Md. Iqbal Hossain gave the verdict on Wednesday.

The nine accused are: Humayun Kabir, former MD of the bank; Mainul Haque, deputy managing director; Noni Gopal Nath, GM;, Sheikh Altaf Hossain, DGM; Safiz Uddin Ahmed, DGM; Kamrul Hossain Khan, AGM; Saiful Hasan, AGM; and Saiful Islam Raja, MD of Paragon Knit Composite Limited; Abdullah Al Mamun, Director of Paragon Knit Composite Limited.
