Rail communication with north restored

Rail communication between Dhaka and North Bengal has returned to normal on Saturday 12 hours after the derailment in Ratanpur area near Kaliakair Mouchak railway station in Gazipur.

Shahedul Islam, divisional manager of Pakshi Railway, told this to The Daily Samakal.

At around 10:15 pm on Friday, two bogies along with the engine of Panchagarh Express train derailed at Kaliakair in Mouchak station area of Kaliakair upazila. 

North Bengal's train communication with Dhaka was cut off due to blockage of main line. 

However, no casualties were reported.

Railway authorities have formed a four-member investigation team into the incident. Another 14-member investigation team has also been formed headed by Pakshi Divisional Manager Shahedul Islam.
