Dhaka-Kolkata train service resumes after over 2 years

Train service between Dhaka and Kolkata reopened on Sunday after being stopped for more than two years because to the Covid-19 epidemic.

With around 170 passengers, the Maitree Express, which runs between Dhaka and Kolkata, left Dhaka Cantonment Station at 8:15 a.m.

BR Director General Dhirendra Nath Mazumder greeted passengers with flowers as the train resumed operation after an extended interruption.

Meanwhile, on the Khulna-Kolkata route, the Bandhan Express from Kolkata reached at Benapole Railway Station about 9:45 a.m.

In addition, the Mitali Express, the third passenger train to run between Bangladesh and India, would commence service on June 1. The train will run four times a week between Dhaka and New Jalpaiguri (NJP), West Bengal.
