Sitakunda fire: Case filed against 8 people

A case has been filed against eight people in connection with the fire and explosion at the BM container depot in Keshabpur area of Sitakunda in Chittagong that claimed 44 lives so far.

Sitakunda police sub-inspector (SI) Ashraf Siddiqui filed the case on Tuesday night.

Sitakunda Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad told media that a case has been registered against eight persons by the police citing negligence on the part of the authorities in the incident of fire and explosion at the depot.

He said the case was under investigation and no arrests had been made so far.
