Govt to launch national social insurance scheme: Kamal

AHM Mustafa Kamal, the Finance Minister, announced on Thursday that the government is working to establish a 'National Social Insurance Scheme' in the country.

"In the country, the government is attempting to establish a National Social Insurance Scheme. At the request of the Cabinet Division, a study was conducted on this scheme, emphasizing the gradual introduction of four types of social insurance in the country," he stated.

The finance minister made the remarks when presenting the national budget for FY23 to the Jatiya Sangsad.

Kamal remarked in his address, "Unemployment insurance, maternity insurance, sickness insurance, and work-related injury insurance are all examples. The Ministry of Labor and Employment has already taken efforts to start a trial program for the Employment Injury Scheme, which will cover workers from occupational injuries."
