PM inaugurates Hajj programme 2022

Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, today launched the Hajj Programme-2022 (1443 Hijri). She also urged everyone to respect Islam's dignity as a religion of peace.

"Islam is the best religion since it is a very peaceful and holy religion. As a result, it is incumbent upon all of us to preserve its dignity" she stated.

The premier opened the programme at the Hajj camp in the capital's Ashkona virtually from her official residence Ganobhaban.

She also called upon the hajj pilgrims to pray for Bangladesh so that the country and its people can remain protected from the natural disasters and pandemics like Covid-19 as well as get decent lives.

The first hajj flight from Bangladesh, carrying 419 pilgrims, is set to depart for Saudi Arabia on Sunday. The Holy Hajj will be place this year (on July 08 depending on the moon appearance) with one million pilgrims from all over the world, as the coronavirus situation has improved. Bangladesh is home to 57,585 hajj pilgrims.
