Dope test to be mandatory during university admission: Home Minister

Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, the home minister, announced Monday that dope testing will be made mandatory for students applying to universities.

At a news conference held on Sunday at the Secretariat on the occasion of 'International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, 2022,' the minister stated that "medical testing would be done at the time of entry, and it will include a dope test".

"We had already begun drug testing police officers when the prime minister declared there would be "zero tolerance" for drugs. The Prime Minister was then presented with our suggestion that individuals who would be hired would undergo drug testing. The civil surgeon will conduct drug tests. Infrastructure development is required in order to do this substantially. We have begun to put it into practice."
