Ferry services from Mawa terminal to continue: State Minister

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Tuesday stated that according to the demand of the public, ferries from the Mawa terminal will run.

He said since there are already six ferries running the route, they did not stop ferry services in the Padma River after the opening of the Padma Bridge.

The ferry service will continue in accordance with the government's decision, he added.

Following his attendance at a ceremony at the ministry for award recipients, the minister made these comments to media.

When discussing the removal of nuts from the Padma Bridge by a person, Khalid claimed that they were the bridge's adornment and that someone had tried to steal them.

Speaking on the government's plan to suspend motorbike traffic on the Padma Bridge, Khalid stated that the decision may alter after speedometers and CCTV are installed on the bridge.
