Teacher beaten to death in Savar: Accused student's father arrested

Police have arrested Uzzal Haji, 45, father of student Ashraful Islam Jitu, accused of beating teacher Utpal Kumar Sarkar to death in Ashulia of Savar upazila.

He was detained for questioning from Kushtia on Tuesday night, Ashulia Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamruzzaman told The Daily Samakal on Wednesday morning.

The OC said, "The accused Jitu has not beentraced yet. However, his father was arrested from Kushtia at night and brought to Ashulia police station. Interrogation is going on in this regard. Details will be announced later."
