Death toll in Ctg depot fire jumps to 49

At least 49 people have been killed in a horrific explosion at a BM container depot in Kadmarsul area of Sitakunda in Chittagong till Sunday afternoon. Chittagong Civil Surgeon. Elias Chowdhury has confirmed this information.

Meanwhile, sources at the Sitakunda Upazila Administration Information Center confirmed the deaths of 45 people. According to an administration chart, at least 200 people have been injured so far.

Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Ashraf Uddin said that more than 200 injured and burnt people are undergoing treatment in different hospitals.

The first fire broke out on Saturday night and then exploded at around 11:15 pm. Authorities confirmed that 33 bodies had been found between night and 11:15 pm on Sunday.

The fire broke out at BM Container Limited in Shitalpur area around 10pm last night, said a duty officer of Chittagong Fire Service and Civil Defence control room at Agrabad.

On information, 25 firefighting units rushed to the spot and were trying to douse the blaze, the officer added.
