Stern action against those responsible for Sitakunda tragedy: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that punitive action will be taken against those responsible for the Sitakunda fire tragedy that claimed 41 lives. 

He told reporters while visiting the burnt and injured patients who are undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital around 3pm on Monday.

No one would be spared in this case, he said, adding that action will be taken against those whose allegations will be proved after investigating the incident.

He added that 41 people have been officially killed in the Sitakunda blast so far. However, the actual information will be found out after prove into the incident, he continued.

At this time, the director general of the fire service, Brigadier General Mainuddin, along with senior Army, RAB, police and fire service officials were present.

Earlier in the day, the Home Minister visited BM Container Terminal in Sonaichhari area of Sitakunda.
