Load shedding may continue till September: Tawfiq-e-Elahi

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury said the ongoing gas and electricity crisis could continue till September.

Efforts will be made to reduce the demand by 2,000 MW through affordable measures, he said at a press conference at the Prime Minister's Office on Thursday.

Tawfiq-e-Elahi also said that imported electricity will come from India by December.

The Rampal power plant is likely to go into production within the same period and then the situation will improve.

He added that the government would be advised to turn off lighting and change office and court schedules like Covid's time.
