Govt bans illumination of buildings, markets to save electricity

The government has stopped lighting all over the country until further instructions in a bid to save electricity. 

The directive was given in a circular signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Saiful Islam Bhuiyan from the Cabinet Division on Thursday afternoon.

It said the directive requested not to illuminate various social events, community centres, shopping malls, shops, offices and homes across the country until further instructions were given to save energy due to the abnormal rise in global fuel oil prices.
