No room for extremism in Bangladesh: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said there is no space for extremism and militancy in this country.

He spoke as the chief guest at the unveiling ceremony of the book 'Extremism and Terrorism in the Eyes of Islam' held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium at Rajarbagh in the capital on Sunday.

Bangladesh Police's Anti-Terrorism Unit organized the event.

The home minister also said that Islam is a symbol of peace. There is no question of supporting the killing of people in this religion.

He said, “We are religious, not bigoted.”

Kamal also said, “There was an attempt to make the country militant. It has been resisted.”

Akhtar Hossain, the Senior Secretary of Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, was present as a special guest in the event.

Anti-Terrorism Unit chief Kamrul Ahsan presided over the function where senior police officers were present.
