Ex-OC Pradeep jailed for 20 years, wife 21 years

A court in Chittagong has sentenced Pradip Kumar Das, former officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf police station to 20 years and his wife Chumki Karan to 21 years in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on charges of illegal acquisition of wealth.

The court of Special Judge Munsi Abdul Mazid of Chittagong gave this order in the presence of Pradeep and his wife on Wednesday.

The court has also instructed concerned authorities to confiscate all assets owned by the couple.

On January 31, OC Pradeep received the death punishment for the violent killing of Maj (retd) Sinha Rashed Khan, a former army officer, in Cox's Bazar.
