'Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony'

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa has said Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony for time immemorial and no evil force would be allowed to destroy communal peace and brotherhood in the country.

Mostafa said while addressing the Rangpur divisional conference of the representatives of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad (BPUP) on Friday afternoon as the guest of honour. 

The Rangpur district and city units of BPUP jointly organized the event at the Town Hall auditorium in the city with President of its district unit Ajay Prasad Babon in the chair. 

Moderated by General Secretary of Rangpur city unit of BPUP Advocate Prashant Kumar Roy, representatives from all district and upazila level units of BPUP of Rangpur division attended the conference. 

President of the central committee of BPUP Jitendra Lal Bhowmick formally inaugurated the conference through hoisting of the national and organizational flags and addressed the event as the chief guest. 

Vice-president of the central committee of BPUP Manindra Kumar Nath addressed the conference as the keynote speaker. 

Joint General Secretary of the central committee of BPUP Santosh Sharma spoke as a special guest. 

General Secretary of Rangpur City Awami League Tushar Kanti Mandal, Members of the central committee of BPUP Soumendra Prasad Panday, Anup Kumar Roy, Ratna Ghosh and General Secretary of Rangpur district unit Dhiman Bhattacharya also addressed. 

Mayor Mostafa said people of different faiths, castes, creeds and religions have been living together on Bangladesh soil in peace, harmony and friendly environment setting up a dazzling example of brotherhood globally. 

He urged people of all religions and faiths to further cement the peaceful communal coexistence and strengthen brotherhood among the people of all faiths and work unitedly in the process of building a developed Bangladesh by 2041.
