Four killed in auto-rickshaw-truck collision in Rangpur

Four people, including the driver of a battery-powered auto-rickshaw, were killed and three others injured in a road crash in Mahiganj Sareartal area of Rangpur at 1pm on Tuesday. 

The deceased were identified as Raja Mia, 45, Geeta Rani, 60, Shahjahan Mia, 55, and a four-year-old child.

Masudul Alam, senior station officer of Rangpur Fire Service, confirmed the deaths of four people quoting doctors.

According to the fire service and locals, the auto-rickshaw was coming to Rangpur with passengers from Chowdhurani in Pirgachha at noon. On the other hand, the truck was going to Pirgachha from Rangpur. 

The head-on collision took place in Sareartal area, leaving two people dead on the spot and five others injured.

Two more people died after being taken to hospital.
