Bus fare may increase by 29 paisa per kilometer

Following hike of fuel prices, bus fare can be increased by 29 paisa maximum and launch by 42 paisa per kilometer.

This Saturday, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has given this idea of increasing the rent of bus in a press release.

The price of fuel oil has increased by the government by 42.5 percent to 51.6 percent, the highest level in 20 years.

On Friday night, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division increased the prices of octane and gasoline by Tk46 per liter to Tk135 and diesel and kerosene by Tk34 per litre to Tk114.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Friday evening, the new pricing went into effect at 12am on Saturday.

At a time when global oil prices are trending downward, the administration announced the increase. Friday's Brent crude price was $95.50 per barrel. A few weeks ago, the price of a barrel reached $129.

The most recent price increase since 2001, according to authorities at the Energy and Mineral Resources Division and Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC).
