Polythene factory fire in Lalbagh: 6 bodies recovered

At least six bodies have been recovered on Monday afternoon in the incident of fire in the polythene factory in Lalbagh of the capital. 

After the fire was brought under control, the fire service personnel searched the hotel under the building and recovered the bodies of six people.

Assistant Director of Fire Service Shahjahan Sikder confirmed this information. He said, first the bodies of three people were recovered. Three more bodies were found later.

Inspector (Operation) Shariful Islam of Chawkbazar Police Station told The Daily Samakal that the search is still going on. Details will be given after the full investigation is over.

A fire that broke out in a polythene factory at 30 Devidwar Ghat of Lalbagh area in the Old Dhaka around 12 noon on Monday has been doused at 2:15pm.

Khaleda Yasmin, the duty officer of the fire service control room told The Daily Samakal that ten units of the fire service were working to control the fire and finally the blaze was brought under control after frantic efforts.

She said that the fire service started working within 9 minutes of the fire. Six units rushed to the spot and later four more units joined the fire extinguishing work.

The primary cause of the fire is not known, Assistant Director of Fire Service Shahjahan Sikder told The Daily Samakal.
